VSCO, the Visual Supply Company, introduced AI Lab, “a suite of intelligent, high-fidelity editing tools designed to help photographers achieve professional-grade results,” the company said. The first tool available within AI Lab, Remove, enables photographers to erase unwanted elements from their images while preserving full resolution and maintaining a natural look.
“Since our inception, VSCO has supported authentic creative expression and has provided photographers with many ways to achieve their desired success,” said Eric Wittman, CEO of VSCO. “We see how much AI is impacting photography, and are focused on bringing AI tools to our community that are designed specifically to support photographers in achieving creative excellence while respecting the art of their photography.”
AI Lab leverages Black Forest Lab’s FLUX.1 Kontext model and combines it with proprietary, purpose-built technology for photographers who demand high-quality edits that look authentic, not artificial.
- Remove: uses intelligent area detection and seamless blending to produce natural, resolution-safe edits that respect the integrity of the image.
- Upscale: launching soon, will enhance image resolution and sharpen detail while preserving color accuracy and composition.
Key features of AI Lab include:
- Full resolution and natural image detail preserved
- Supports editing high resolution RAW photos
- Creates a non-destructive copy, preserving the original image
- Intuitive editing with Brush, Tap, or Lasso tools to select and remove objects
- Uses content-aware region detection for accurate blending and realistic results
AI Lab is available within VSCO Studio on iOS to VSCO Pro members. Pro membership also includes unlimited AI editing, advanced tools, and access to VSCO’s complete library of 200+ professional presets and film effects.
AI Lab builds on VSCO’s first AI-product, VSCO Canvas, a collaborative AI mood board maker introduced earlier this year. The announcement also follows the company’s recent launches of VSCO Workspace, a studio management platform for professional photographers, and VSCO Capture, a camera app with film-based presets.
